Artist Statement

Through my “Emergence” series of paintings, I’m exploring the disconnection between our inner lives and the external world through the visual narrative of colorful, high-fashion astronauts depicted as transcending time and reality. The astronauts' helmets obscure the faces and emotions of each subject, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own inner selves. I draw inspiration from science fiction media and the enduring essence of human nature, observing the timeless aspects of our behaviors and interpersonal dynamics.

For this body of work, I use a saturated spectrum of color to evoke feelings of hope and whimsy, reflecting my idealistic approach to life. For the work in this series, I am not using any paintbrushes—only my fingers—to apply and mix oil paint directly onto either canvas or wood panel, creating a closer connection between myself and the work.
