Jessie Weitzel Le Grand

Jessie Weitzel Le Grand’s work presents objects from imagined alternate realities connected to our own. She holds a BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art and an MAT from Marylhurst University. Her work has recently been exhibited at STOR (Seattle, WA), Chefas Projects (Portland, OR), Lefebvre & Fils (Paris, France), Outback Arthouse (Los Angeles, CA), Oregon Contemporary (Portland, OR), and Lazy Oaf’s Take a Break in London, England. Jessie is a co-founder of Carnation Contemporary and Well Well Projects. She teaches first grade in Portland, OR, and is currently thinking about inner worlds, unsolved mysteries, and exterior consciousness—while also playing video games.

Weitzel Le Grand’s sculptures imagine objects from a potential afterlife or alternate dimension, a place governed by rules unlike our own. Each sculpture reveals more about this constructed reality—one you may never fully see yourself. Her most recent work explores devices meant to communicate between our reality and theirs.

A Beach, But No Sand
A Beach, But No Shells
A Beach Only Because Where You Stand
The Inter-Dimensional Waters Lap Over Your Toes
A Phone You Hear Ringing—But Never Answer
