Pamella Diegor is a Filipina painter and sculptor working primarily in plaster, clay, and acrylics. She views the world with heart-shaped glasses and playfully transforms it into color-saturated artworks, infusing a sense of warmth and positivity into the mundane that can often feel cold and heartless. She aims to connect with her audience and inspire them to believe that despite the struggles of modernity, heart wins. With the use of the familiar heart shape to challenge and remind herself to see hearts in a round world, she incorporates experimental textures as the heart morphs into various forms. By doing this, she gradually builds her dreamscape called the Heart Archive.
Growing up in Bulacan, where she studied and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Pamella’s artistic drive was initially fueled by limited exposure to major art hubs. She actively participated in art markets and group exhibits around Metro Manila with friends, experiences that were crucial in developing her distinctive art style and expanding her practice. During her studies, she discovered gypsum plaster as a medium, which, though initially challenging, became a central element in her work.
Pamella’s art is deeply influenced by her practice of transforming challenges into sources of positivity, archiving these emotions and experiences in her creations. Her vibrant use of color and texture—achieved through materials like acrylic paint, gypsum plaster, and clay—reflects this inspiration. Her sculptures, rich in texture and detail, invite viewers to engage with the artwork in an immersive way.
At the core of Pamella’s creations is the heart shape, symbolizing goodness and positivity amidst modern challenges. By embedding her emotions and experiences into her art, she not only finds personal fulfillment but also offers a hopeful and vibrant perspective on life, envisioning a world enriched with hearts and color.
