Finding Your Voice and Visual Language: A Conversation with Visionary Landscape Artist Jennifer Peart

Photography: Noel Russell

In this episode of Art & Cocktails, host Ekaterina Popova talks with visionary landscape artist Jennifer Peart about the intersection of nature, mid-century design, and science fiction in her paintings.

About Jennifer Peart

Jennifer Peart is a Sacramento-based artist creating visionary landscape paintings that explore the intersection of nature, design, and the speculative worlds of science fiction. Raised in the rural Sierra Nevada Mountains, she developed a deep connection to the land, which remains central to her artistic practice. Drawing from mid-century modern architecture, science fiction, and world-building tabletop games, Peart reimagines environments through a lens of possibility. A self-described "visionary fiction scholar," Peart studies past visions of the future through the works of authors such as Octavia Butler and Ursula K. Le Guin. These imagined futures shape her explorations of the human relationship with nature and the environment.

When she’s not in the studio or at an art event, you can find Jennifer hiking and backpacking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, visiting National Parks with her sweetheart, practicing her Spanish, knitting, reading science fiction, or simply basking like a lizard by the river—soaking up the sun and watching the water flow.
