Artists to Watch at Superfine San Francisco 2025

1. Teague Smith

Teague Smith is a Jersey City-based multidisciplinary artist whose paintings and illustrations explore humanity with a distinctive, thought-provoking perspective. Balancing the macabre with humor and emotion, his vivid works serve as archives of personal moments and ideas. Teague has exhibited across the U.S., Australia, and Paris, with a background from the School of Visual Arts in New York.

2. Theresa Hong

Theresa Hong is a San Francisco Bay Area abstract painter and printmaker whose work explores movement, color, and harmony. With a background in art therapy, she intuitively layers fluid shapes and bold hues, creating pieces that balance energy with tranquility. Her work has been exhibited in Brooklyn, Napa, and San Francisco, where she is currently showing at City Art Gallery.

3. Sharone Halevy

Sharone Halevy is a New York City-based commission artist and abstract expressionist whose work is deeply personal, shaped by her clients' stories, emotions, and even their favorite music. Entirely self-taught, she transforms experiences into vibrant, expressive paintings that invite contemplation. Her work has been exhibited internationally and showcased in live performances, murals, and collaborations with brands like West Elm and Brooklyn Grange.

4. Moti Makes (Moti Tavassoli)

Moti Tavassoli is a Persian-American artist and designer based in LA, blending her background in architecture with a passion for creating immersive, emotional spaces—both physical and imagined. Drawing inspiration from nature’s organic forms, her intricate line work and dreamlike landscapes explore themes of belonging, connection, and the unseen energies that shape our world. Moti’s work has been exhibited in LA, San Francisco, and New York.

5. Diane Portwood

Diane Portwood is a pop artist with an engineering background that merges STEM fields and the arts to bring about stunning mixed media pieces focused on the subjects of introspection and personal growth. Using the astronaut as an overarching character in her work, she uses our modern day explorers as a metaphor for exploring one’s self.

6. Emily Fromm

Emily Fromm is a Bay Area artist and muralist originally born in Los Angeles, California in 1991. She is known for creating contemporary urban landscapes which combine nostalgic cartoon aesthetics with traditional sign painting techniques, often in serieses or vignettes at large scale. Influenced by Folk Art, Pop Art, Dadaism, Cubism, San Francisco's Mission School, and California Landscape Painting, Fromm employs a variety of mediums to construct narrative images which tell the stories of local histories, celebrate diverse communities, and speak to the unique memories of each viewer.

7. Ben Moser

Ben Moser is an abstract artist known for his large-scale, emotive paintings that blur the line between chaos and structure. His work oscillates between minimal, tactile landscapes and instinctive, architectural compositions, using contrasting layers to capture the push and pull of human emotion. Rooted in themes of identity and perception, Ben’s paintings invite viewers into a space where reality and feeling converge. Originally from Baltimore, he now works in Bend, OR, exploring abstraction, photography, and spatial design.

8. Brianna Tosswill – Primrose Press

Penrose Press is the creative practice of Brianna Tosswill, a linocut printmaker and storyteller whose richly colored, intricate works explore themes of comfort, reading, and friendship. Originally founded as a micro-publishing venture in Toronto, Penrose has evolved into a full-time artistic pursuit, blending book arts with deeply personal narratives. Known for her meticulous carving and evocative storytelling, Brianna’s work has garnered praise at major art events like The Artist Project, Toronto.

9. Tina Ngo

Tina Ngo is a Vietnamese American artist redefining creativity through tape art. With a background in corporate tech, she blends structure and expression, using pinstriping tape to craft bold, intricate designs. Her award-winning work has been showcased in Dallas, New York, Arkansas, and Miami.

10. Suze Reily

Suze Riley is a San Francisco-based artist specializing in live portraits and mixed-media papercut art. Her work captures the essence of her subjects with minimal, elegant lines, while her mixed-media pieces draw inspiration from the ocean, nostalgic seaside scenes, and vintage aesthetics. With a background in publishing and a passion for repurposing materials, Suze’s art balances simplicity with intricate detail, creating timeless and evocative compositions.

11. Risa Culbertson (from ArtSpan)

Risa Culbertson is a Bay Area-based artist, illustrator, and master crafter with a passion for transforming everyday materials into playful, imaginative creations. From fiber arts and paper to edible art and stop-motion animation, her multidisciplinary work radiates joy and whimsy. She owns and operates Papallama, a creative stationery company in Berkeley, CA, where she brings her vibrant ideas to life, always finding new ways to spark connection and delight.

12. Kerelle Levy (Installation Artist)

Karelle Levy is a Paris-born, Miami-based textile artist and designer known for her bold, innovative knitwear and large-scale fiber art. With a background in textile design from the Rhode Island School of Design, she merges fashion, performance, and fine art through her brand KRELwear. Inspired by vibrant colors, shimmering yarns, and aerial landscapes, Karelle creates dynamic, site-specific installations and custom garments. With the help of Maggie, her industrial knitting machine, she brings unique textile visions to life, blending artistry with wearable design.

13. Ashley Gottlieb

Ashley Gottlieb is a Reno-based visual artist whose bright, playful paintings and sculptures explore an intuitive connection to nature. Inspired by wild yet calming spaces, she creates abstract works that capture the energy of the outdoors. Known for her bold, large-scale visions, Ashley has exhibited across Nevada and contributed to public art projects in Reno, Sparks, Fernley, and Las Vegas. Originally from Chicago, she now finds inspiration in the vast landscapes of the western U.S.

14. Rachel Le Roux

Rachel Le Roux is a British-Filipina multidisciplinary artist and interior architect based in Manila, Philippines. Working primarily with pencil and oil on canvas, she intricately weaves body language with fabric to capture the fluidity and emotion of the female form. Her abstract works breathe new life into leftover paint, exploring movement and transformation. Rachel’s art has been exhibited in Manila and collected worldwide, with features in publications like Create Magazine, Arts To Hearts Project, and Women United Arts Magazine, where she is also a contributing writer.

15. Jovanitha Le Long

Jovanitha Le Long is a self-taught French artist whose bold, expressive still-life paintings bring a sense of playfulness and joy. Leaving behind a career in law, she found freedom in art, using vivid, unblended colors and black outlines to capture the essence of everyday objects—especially food. Her work, described as both weird and fun, has been exhibited internationally in Philadelphia, London, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles and featured in Create Magazine, Arts to Hearts Magazine, and more. She currently lives in northern France with her family, three cats, and dreams of adding a dog.
