Summer Collective Exhibition: Celebrating Color, Texture, and Expression at Chefas Projects

Chefas Projects is delighted to present Summer Collective, a group exhibition that will run from August 23 to September 21, 2024. This exhibit highlights the work of four Portland-based artists, each showcasing their unique and vibrant styles. The exhibition is a celebration of color and texture, bidding farewell to the warmer months with a fresh dialogue around these themes. The featured artists include multidisciplinary artist Jess Ackerman, illustrator and painter Ryan Bubnis, abstract painter Jordan Clark, and mixed media artist Emily Kepulis.

A Tapestry of Color and Texture

Summer Collective offers a rich exploration of color and texture through the diverse artistic practices of the participating artists. Jess Ackerman returns to Chefas Projects with a selection of new paintings that embody their signature blend of bold color, pattern, and form. These works are deeply personal, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in emotive and narrative-driven pieces that reflect on the artist's journey and experiences.

Similarly, Ryan Bubnis presents a compelling series of over 40 portraits, each exploring the nuances of identity through expressive brushwork and playful forms. His work delves into the human condition, bringing a unique perspective to the exhibition that is both thoughtful and visually engaging.

New to the gallery are Jordan Clark and Emily Kepulis. Clark's abstract paintings draw inspiration from the layering and revealing process associated with railroad graffiti. His dynamic compositions evoke a sense of movement and spontaneity, achieved through the overlapping of saturated colors and organic shapes. On the other hand, Kepulis uses watercolor and gouache to create intricate pieces that reflect on themes of memory and transformation. Her work adds a delicate yet powerful voice to the collective, rounding out the exhibition's exploration of color and texture.

Located in Portland, Oregon, at 134 SE Taylor Street on the first floor of the Taylor Works building, Chefas Projects invites the public to experience this unique exhibition. The show will be on view through September 21, 2024.
