Aya Shimohara

I was born in 1986. I majored in design at Kyoto Saga University of Arts, but focused on painting independently. I started my career as a planner and designer in the apparel industry before becoming an independent artist in earnest in 2017. Until now, I have been actively exhibiting in various countries.


Artist Statement

Using panels that resemble digital devices, I create paintings with selfie compositions and mirror painting on the theme of the relationship between others and self and the ambivalent nature of having incompatible feelings at the same time that is highlighted by online activities.
