Beau Bernier Frank
My work has always felt like ripples of my daily life.
I am often seeking solitude, introspection, independence, and ease as my priorities in both my life and my practice. My work aims to create a narrative approach to storytelling by introducing figures into nature. While nature remains the central subject of these paintings, the figures present are observers, taking in the wide-open spaces, adding a sense of perspective, all while embellishing their surroundings by the simple act of being there.
Personally, and through my art, I gravitate toward long stretches of coastal land featuring winding mountains, forests, beaches, and stretches of vast open water. I try to find the balance between densely marked areas holding bold colors and intense line work to more subdued gradients. This allows me to create a balance mirroring my welcomed appreciation for simplicity.
My time is spent between many places, and it seems only natural to pay tribute to my experiences living on the Central Coast of California, along the New England coastline, and throughout Europe. This has fostered an affinity for a life of being grounded in different cultures and societies.
