Artist Statement

With a graphic arts practice somewhere between art and design, Jayes Caitlin’s bright work serves those with an affinity for non-objectivity, saturated colors and forms, improvisational compositions, and textures. Caitlin's minimalist works are ambiguous and systematic. She blends calculated and aleatoric processes, eschewing recognizable forms, and remains open to multifaceted interpretations. The works are meant to be experienced the way one might react to instrumental music—through feeling.

Caitlin is creating an abstract visual language across archival editions, paintings, and design projects, contributing to the role of the graphic artist and abstraction in the ever-evolving contemporary visual culture.
