Nicole Williford

Nicole Williford (b. 1994) is a representational painter living in Portland, OR. Since completing her Bachelor's degree in Visual Art at George Fox University in 2016, she has maintained her painting practice in the greater Portland area. Williford has been included in regional group exhibitions and recently made her gallery debut with a solo exhibition at Chefas Projects in Portland, OR.

Williford’s current work explores the myth-making of family life through paintings inspired by archival photographs. Personal and found photos blend together with a combination of oral history and her own imagination to create something new. She uses many layers of transparent and opaque paint to create dynamic and surreal paintings, inviting viewers into a strange yet familiar world.
