Sharon Wensel
Sharon Wensel was born in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and currently lives in Skippack, Pennsylvania. She has two amazing sons—one in Pennsylvania and one in Texas—both of whom are chefs. She studied advertising and design at Hussian School of Art before transferring to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts to study painting.
Sharon put aside her career as an artist for several years after becoming a mother to focus on her family, though she dabbled here and there, joining a local art club. In 2013, following the passing of her husband from ALS, she signed up for classes at Montgomery County Community College, where her love of art was reignited. In January 2022, she left her full-time position as an office assistant to pursue her dream of working as a full-time artist.
She is currently a member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club, InLiquid, Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists, and Art Queens. Sharon enjoys hosting open studio events and inviting her much-cherished collectors. You can find her work on Instagram under @sharonwenselfineart, in local small businesses, and in private collections throughout the country.
Statement
The Healing Power of Nature
Nature has an intrinsic ability to heal and restore the human spirit. Through its colors, patterns, rhythms, and smells, the natural world offers moments of stillness, reflection, peace, and renewal. With my work, I seek to capture this connection between humanity and nature, using art as a medium to evoke the sense of peace and solitude we all are searching for.
