Taylor Pierce
Taylor Pierce (b. 1994) is a self-taught painter and lifelong creative based out of her home studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born and raised along the East Coast, beginning in New York and ending in Florida, experiencing the Southwestern landscape for the first time was a life-changing moment for her. The shapes, textures, and colors of the region excited her, and it wasn’t long before landscapes became her primary subject matter after relocating to Las Vegas in 2019.
Prior to landscapes, Taylor’s primary subject matter was photo-realistic graphite pencil portraits. After several years of this, she began feeling stagnant and uninspired in her creative practice, craving a change that allowed for more expression and spontaneity. Taylor had always admired the freedom of abstract artists, and combined with the inspiration she found within the desert, sought to carve her own path as a landscape painter. Her move to Las Vegas brought with it a revival of passion for her art that she could not have attained without the desert guiding her.
Taylor exhibits her work within her local Las Vegas community, and her work resides with both private and corporate collectors throughout the United States. Recently, her work has been featured in prominent publications, including Southwest Art Magazine and Western Art & Architecture.
Artist Statement
My paintings are born from a deep respect for the land. My work reveals not only the aesthetic qualities of a place but also encourages the idea that we are all part of something bigger than ourselves. With each painting, I wonder, what stories does this land hold? What has it witnessed over centuries, or millennia, to be experienced by me at this very moment in time? The landscape becomes a tangible link to the past and a physical manifestation of history, underscoring the interconnectedness of time and the powerful role that art plays in bridging past and present. My paintings, therefore, are not just representations of a place; they are portraits of its history, its resilience, and its enduring connection to all who have called it home.
